Match Preview: Sheffield United Vs Stoke

Stoke City visit Brammall Lane tonight as they look to increase their good start after the 2-1 victory against Wolves on Sunday.

It doesn't seem that long away since we were at Brammal Lane last season, as a Gifton Noel-Williams goal helped to dent the Blades' playoff hopes.  Manager Tony Pulis will be looking for more of the same this time around.

Sheffield United manager told Sky Sports news yesterday "Stoke bullied us last season.  Tony has put together a strong team."  Neil, we did not bully you, we just didn't cheat.

Talking of cheats, that brings us to the home fixture against the Blades last season all the way back to November.  Barry Knight was the referee and if an official has ever had such an inpact in screwing a team out of points, then this was it.  Stoke went in at half time 2-0 up and in the second half Mr Knight had taken a liking for his whistle.  United were given almost everything and it came to the stage where it was hardly surprising when he awarded a Sheffield United penalty for what was really not much of a tackle in the 94th minute.  Credit to United, their previous goal to bring it back to 2-1 was a belter, but this little stunt in the last minute was absolutly shocking.  United earned an undeserved draw.

Well that was last season, it's a fresh season now and we are looking to take a few more points off United.  It will be great if we can take 4 points off of them again like last season, starting with 3 tonight.

I would expect the team to be the same as the one that beat Wolves on Sunday, although Steve Simonsen could start in goal, depending on what Tony's plans are with the goalkeeper situation.

Stoke 24-7 Prediction: Sheffield United 1-2 Stoke City
